I know, I know, some of you think I am hammering on this. The -only-
reason I am bringing this up today is that my boss is already tied up in
an all day budgeting meeting for 2017 and it's still only August (barely).
I strongly suspect that IBM will give us the 12 month notice of end of
support for 7.1 before 2016's out so that 7.1 will reach end of support by
the end of 2017. I am basing this solely on past history.

I was reading a Pete Massiello newsletter and it said that IBM announced
the end of support dates for many earlier Power Systems. Granted, some of
these go years out so you got some time to plan on that. However I would
suspect that if you are still paying maintenance on an older box that
you'd save money trading that out for a newer box. (Along with power,
cooling, etc.)
