Hi Aaron,
deleting and reinstalling *admin includes the cleanup of Base directory support and 57xxDG1.
One lesson learned from all the setup is: wait :-)

You should be able to put down the system into restricted state.
The following steps helped us several times (worked this with IBM support as some systems
really did not want to start *admin)

* have a backup :)
* have an image catalog with the OS
* have image catalogs with all PTF groups (CUM, JAVA, HTTP)
* Uninstall DG1
* remove /qibm/proddata/http/admin
* remove /qibm/proddata/httpa
* remove /qibm/proddata/os/osgi/lwisysinst
* remove /qibm/userdata/httpa
* remove /qibm/userdata/os/osgi/lwisysinst
* IPL B/M up to Operating System
* Install DG1 (and maybe base directory support if marked)
* start controlling subsystem
* start *admin
* Wait (!) until all *admin jobs are done. Depending on your machine this can last 15mins
* end *admin
* load all PTF
* IPL
* start *admin again
* wait…
* now it *should* work
