You are doing this the hard way! :-)
You are the classic case for the Network Based Image Catalog! Put them
on ONE LPAR. Do the standard build but when verifying say *YES for the
NFSSHAR parm on the VFYIMGCLG. This creates a file VOLUME_LIST for use
with NFS.
Now start the NFS Servers on that one LPAR.
Assuming your catalogs are in '/ibmi/v7r2/ptf'
Assure the proper authority:
CHGAUT OBJ('/ibmi/') USER(*PUBLIC) DTAAUT(*RX) SUBTREE(*ALL)
Export the catalog to NFS:
CHGNFSEXP OPTIONS('-i -o ro') DIR('/ibmi/v7r2/ptf')
Now on ALL the other partitions.
CRTDEVOPT DEVD(OPTNET01)
RSRCNAME(*VRT)
LCLINTNETA(*SRVLAN)
RMTINTNETA('10.1.1.1')
NETIMGDIR('/ibmi/v7r1/ptf')
TEXT('PTFs via NFS from partition at 10.1.1.1')
Adjust the 10.1.1.1 to taste of course.
Now vary the guy on and SHAZAAM all those images are available. You can
do this for every partition all at the same time!
Notes: The image catalog itself and the virtual optical drive on the
HOSTing partition need not be mounted or varied on. The images are
accessed via NFS only.
You need a service tools lan interface on each client partition or the
LCLINTNETA(*SRVLAN) parm has no where to connect. This can be an
available physical or virtual Ethernet port.
The HOST partition cannot be configured for Jumbo Frames.
Keep this optical varied OFF unless you are using it. It will only read
the VOLUME_LIST file at the time of vary on.
I have seen situations where the VOLUME_LIST file does not pick up the
correct CCSID. It much be 819. If no imges show in WRKOPTVOL after
varying on the drive vary it off, do the command here and try again.
ChgAtr '/ibmi/v7r2/ptf/VOLUME_LIST' ATR(*CCSID) VALUE(819)
You must be at least at IBM i 6.1 for this to work.
This will save you LOTS of FTP Time and disk on the client partitions.
It's also freeky fast because you are reading on the host partition and
only writing on the clients partitions.

Fix Central does still allow you to order those on disc but frankly FTPing
them over and doing it that way is probably easier than trying to find
someone to receive, handle and load the disc's up for you.
