Resolved issue with IBM Service (very helpful).

The RMVPTF will remove loaded ptfs, but has to be in the correct order (had
to remove the SI... before the MF...)
Able to complete PTF install.

We don't add ptfs that don't go through an extensive test on our developer
lpar. The exception is security ptfs.
Right now I don't have the option of going into that test. They would
probably prefer the full restore prior to the ptf load, plus the latest
save, a large amount of time but safer. We have had several instances of
DB2 ptfs breaking our sql code (the old stuff), all in Win server OLEDB
connections. That's where the real testing is.
Will try the IBM service call first.

There's always the "nuclear" option.

First of all, order the latest resave of IBM i 7.1 from ESS.
For information on resave's see:
http://www-947.ibm.com/systems/support/i/planning/resave/index.html
In your case you want RS-710-S.

Follow the instructions "Replacing Licensed Internal Code and IBM i of the
same version and release" located at

http://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/ssw_ibm_i_71/rzahc/upgradesameversion.htm
These instructions are useful for those:
- Upgrading from V5R4M0 to V5R4M1
- Upgrading from 6.1.0 to 6.1.1
- Running early ship code who want to be on GA code.
- Who are running a really early version of the OS but want to be on the
latest TR's and whatnot but finding it a pain to get there.
- Have the dreaded "Link/Loader" issue.

I've done it a few times.
Treat it like you would an OS upgrade. IOW, if you do stuff like
CHGCMDDFT and all that you may have to do all that.

After you've done this, apply the latest cume and all groups. You may
even want to peruse "Recommended fixes" at
http://www-912.ibm.com/s_dir/slkbase.nsf/recommendedfixes
Scroll down to "Recommended for specific products or functions" and select
IBM i 7.1.

it continues ...
V7R1
The load with PTF opt 8 failed after "loading" Security Group ptfs
including 2 ptfs that have pre-reqs.
I can't load the pre-req - it's a whole TR

Is there not a command to "unload" the 2 ?
Have tried RMVPTF and DLTPTF.
Have search the history and FAQ's - I can't imagine it does not come up.
