As an alternate way to get data into excel...

I've used the Excel Data connection wizard;
(this assumes you have loaded the windows part of the ACS client for the ODBC driver)
[Data]
[Get external data]
[from other sources]
[from data connection wizard]
[ODBC DSN] <next>
[pick a DSN connection]

Then pick files for connection

you can save the data connection so it can be recalled later

When you get to the "import data" window you can click <properties>
then definition, and if you have specific SQL statements they can be entered here.

Lots of other stuff you can customize.

I'm prettey sure this existed before, but I found it a simple(?) way to get data to the XLS without "leaving" excel.
I know the data transfer program can also utilize SQL selection

found an article that talks about ACS' ability to transfer data from the
active spreadsheet instead of having a separately installable plug-in.

Didn't seem to pick up the ending cell in my highlighted range. And it was
kind of a PITA to have to jump out of Excel to start the data transfer.
Lastly, I had to figure out to invoke the "Actions->Create IBM Database
file" wizard prior to the transfer rather than automatically as part of it.

But the data's on my i, so mission accomplished.

Does the new ACS client software include an Excel add-in like iAccess for
Windows did?

Is it part of the the platform independent package or the platform
dependent one?

My previously working data transfer add-ins have stopped working.

But I've recently moved to the new ACS client. I'm thinking there's an
issue there.
