Re: HMC and Service Processor issue - can't access the HMC

The HMC has 2 ports. #1 is generally setup and a dedicated HMC to Server
HMC Ports ( Private Network ). the 2nd port would be on your regular
network. The private Network can be just a direct patch cable from the HMC
to the HMC1 port on the server. It could be on a simple little switch or
maybe a couple of ports on a larger switch restricted by a VLAN.

Use the control panel to display function 30. It will display the address
of the HMC1 port on the Primary CEC. Verify that is the address the HMC is
expecting. If it is then I would set a laptop with an address in that
subnet and try and ping both the HMC and HMC1 port. You can also use
HTTPS://x.x.x.x from the laptop to access AMSI via the HMC1 port as a test
as well.

Without connectivity you cannot manage the partitions. You can shut them
down from green screen of course but then you've lost control without the
HMC.

Some more info might help. What are you seeing n the HMC - does it say
"connecting" or something else ? When you replaced the cables are you sure
they are direct between the correct HMC interface and the 570 ? Do you
happen to have access to the ASMI ? Not sure powering down the 570 will
"reset the FSP" of itself - more action might be needed.
