I'm an amateur when it comes to the details of the HMC, but here goes:

I remember reading that once you have an HMC, that's the only offical way to administer the partitions.

I'm assuming that the LPARs in question are totally shut down. Is anything awake on those LPARs?

What's changed? PTFs? Any PTFs for the service processor being applied?

Can you ping anything? Any of the LPARs?

Check the HMC configuration-- does it have the correct IP addresses of the LPARs?

Can you see any Managed Systems in the HMC?

You should (theoretically) be able to click on Systems MAnagement/Servers/Connection Status/ Service Processor Status...

Any information on what's alive will be useful...

We have a connection problem with our HMC Console and we can't see any
managed LPARs on our 570.

We have restarted the HMC and replaced the cables, and the next step is to
power down the 570 which will reset the Service Processor.

However if that doesn't work and the HMC still can't see the LPARs, is
there a way to power them on without an HMC? Can we use the control panel
on the front?

ÐAny advice gladly taken.Ð
