Jim,

I'm just asking why, that's all.
If it was the former (6.1-7.3 not supported) then they could have gone to
7.2.
But you alluded to that in the latter (some of the software will not go to
7.2).

That basically boils down to the latter is all that matters. That vendor
software limits them.
I even listed that as a possibility. (Although I did reserve the right to
flame the vendor on that.)
Would be nice to also see the name of such vendor. I can see withholding
it if the customer accepts partial responsibility. Like a "vendor version
issue". Such as I have to go from vendor version 4.0.5, which is only
supported to 7.1, to vendor version 5 to go higher and migration plans are
in the works.

We were stuck on 7.1 for awhile for a couple of reasons:
1 - Migration from Quickr to IBM Connections in the Cloud.
2 - Migration from Sametime 8 on IBM i to Sametime 9 on Windows (which
will go to the cloud the day they finally support public groups in the
cloud).

While none of our partitions are on 7.1 anymore we are stuck on 7.2 with a
bulk of them because:
1 - Waiting for Domino 9.0.1FP6 which was due out in April but is
postponed until May. Waiting for 9.0.2 is too indefinite.
2 - Waiting for Mimix 8.1.06 which is due out end of May.
Then I'll upgrade the remaining 13 lpars from 7.2 to 7.3. Target date NLT
June 11.
