What's odd is that I can pull the PDF off the IFS, open in Adobe and print
to the same printer with no problems. The PDF is only 32KB.

Could you please provide those wrappers please?

I am converting the PDF to a *USERASCII spoolfile. QIMGCVTI can convert a
PDF or image from the IFS and convert it to a spool file. You have to
override the printer file QSYSPRT to *USERASCII first.

Hi Michael,

The error message from the printer seems to imply that the pdf conversion
did not occur but just a plain pdf stream is sent.
I'm not familiar with the QIMGCVTI API, in our shop we are using
Ghostscript in PASE for pdf to ps conversion and pdf to pcl conversion,
and
then send that as *USERASCII spoolfile. We use (a bit customized) scripts
from the Young i Professionals.

If you are interested I can post some wrappers around this.

My previous project about getting a GIF from a xml document and
printing it
on a packing slip (PRTF) has hit a snag.

After getting the image, I save the image and use the AFP resource on
the
printer file and have the printer file create a PDF. Then I use
QIMGCVTI
procedure to convert the PDF back to a spool file of *USERASCII.

Everything worked fine on our IT printer. The issue came about when we
tried printing on their HP LaserJet 4350. They are getting an error
stating "PDF file not printed 128 MB of memory is required to enable
direct PDF printing.
