It is possible to zip/unzip files on the IFS with Java JAR command. To unzip a file called PTF.ZIP in folder PTF:

STRQSH CMD('cd PTF; jar xf PTF.ZIP')

If it was successful, you will get this message:

Command ended normally with exit status 0

Also, to zip the same file:

STRQSH CMD('cd PTF; jar cf PTF.ZIP PTF')

According to my experiences, BIN files are much more compressable, than ISO ones. See also this Techdoc:
