IDK where you are getting your information on systables.

T=Table
P=Physical file

In this case I believe it is calling it a P because a straight FTP instead
of a file transfer will not have a truly externally defined table.

For example, if on my PC I dir
DIR >DIROUT.TXT
NOTEPAD DIROUT.TXT
and trim off the header and the footer so that it at least looks somewhat
formatted.
Then I ftp this (in ascii mode) to a new file on my IBM i it creates a
file with one field named the same as the file.
Might be a snooty thing on it's part but it refuses to call that a table.

Curiosity question. When I use FTP on the IBM i and get file(s) from a
Windows system, the SYSTABLES field TYPE contains a "P" not a "T" and I
just wonder why that is.

T = Table
P = Table that was implicitly created for XML columns

Anybody know?
