Stick with using the FTP option. Set up an image catalog with CRTIMGCLG, and
download everything into that directory. To avoid the ADDIMGCLGE command,
use this instead to get them all in one shot.

call qvoifimg parm('OS ' '*ALL' 0)

Once you load the image catalog onto the virtual optical drive, you can
reboot with the PWRDWNSYS command. Take the *IMGCLG option, and your OS
upgrade will commence.

All this has been documented in the OS upgrade guides for the last several
versions of the OS.

As for service packs, I use image catalogs named CUME, FIXES, etc. and
download to those directories.

Subject: Using Image Catalog to update OS,Used Download Directory to
download OS

I am trying to update my OS by using files I downloaded using the
Download Directory.

I understand about Creating an Image Catalog Adding, loading,
verifying etc.

But the results of downloading using Download Directory is a whole
bunch of zip files

And I am not sure what the process is to get the images I need for the
ADDIMGCLGE

I thought maybe each zip file would be it's own Image Catalog Entry
but there are too many of them for that to be viable.

I cannot find anything that explains the process of getting Image
Catalog Entries from all of these zip files.

Does anyone know where such a document is?

Or can anyone explain what I am supposed to do with all of these zip
files?

I am assuming I would create a directory in the IFS (to be able to Add
Image Catalog Entry)

I have a bunch of zip files on my PC.

Then I get stumped what's next?

Thanks

John
