You may want to ding them again. My understanding has been that, regardless of retention requirements, if you're subpoenaed and you have the data, you have to produce it. Not keeping very old data can limit your exposure. Ammunition for a defined retention policy..... <sorry for the ammunition reference>

Rob,

Pencor recycling center, if needed.
Large industrial shredder.

I still have a basement full (5,000+) Reel to Reel, 8mm, 3590J, 3590K, LTO2, LTO3, LTO4 (1985 thru 2004).

Legal never gave the ok to destroy.
No device available to read them.

Anyone wishing to start a tape museum?

Paul

Your LTO5 tapes.
Kind of wondering what you plan on doing with your LTO5 tapes.
LTO 7 can't write to LTO 5, right? Only read?
How do you initialize them with CLEAR(*YES)?
Or are all your backups encrypted and you are using a bonded service to initialize them?

Paul, let's skip the suggestions for tannerite and/or other explosives.

I've completed my LTO5 to LTO7 migration.
I have a 2nd 3573 L4U library.
I'm considering maybe using it at a remote location for offsite DUPS only
Or
Possibly selling it.

If used offsite, I'm not sure how I would connect it to the iSeries. (no
iSeries at offsite location)
And I believe there is a limit to the fiber length.

Would it take additional IOA to existing LPARs ?
Or
Could this be accomplished with modifying the zoning on the Brocade 300 FC
SAN switch?

Thank You
