Interesting. Something I hadn't noticed. Learn something new every day. What happens is the divide by zero happens in batch? I assume it then is in MSGW status.

I coded a simple divide by zero error in RPGLE. I ran that interactively.
Got the inquiry error message. Check WRKACTJOB, etc from another
display. The first job was NOT in MSGW. It was in DSPW, aka Display
Wait. Apparently, in an interactive job, they consider the display
waiting on input from someone to be Display Wait, irregardless if the
display is waiting on a DDS type input screen or an inquiry message.

This is why I checked for a job that was in a display wait and the job log
contained an inquiry message as it's last message in the joblog.
