What is this thing "DVD" you keep mentioning? :-)

I haven't booted from one of those in years except to install VIOS. Firstly You can host the i_BASE disk in the host partition in an image catalog and boot from that. It is STUPID fast too, you get C600 codes before the HMC can refresh!

Mostly though I do network installs because with that you don't need any i_BASE from IBM you can use DSLO media with all the PTFs already applied.
