Even though the scanning report clearly states that they do an nslookup on
the IP address to retrieve the host name they say it's not matching.
Our network guy is hoping he can create a couple of external dummy dns
records (because customers.dekko.com gets routed to two different IP
addresses but we want to scan both). So customers1.dekko.com will point
to 1 ip address and 2 will point to the 2 ip address.
Then he's hoping the scan will use that to compare against the wildcard.
He believes that it's doing a comparison against the IP address since we
used an IP address and not a name. I disagree since the scan report
clearly says it's doing a nslookup.
He also says that there's not much else he can do. There, he may have a
point since, if they are doing a nslookup, it should be working.
Basically about our last option so we've agreed to give it a try.
