Additionally look in the IFS for log files. Usually when we see jumps like
that a flight recorder or log of some sort is getting hit hard.
Check the /tmp directory for some of them.

One of the problem areas is journals in the system. They are not easy to
track down if you are unfamiliar with journals.

Do a wrkjrnrcv *all/*all and look for a bunch of receivers on a journal.

I have occasionally experienced system journals suddenly building up and
gobbling disk.

You can then delete the journals. You do not need to save the receivers to
delete them, but it will depend on your companies policy on saving journals.
So when the message displays when you delete the receiver, respond with a I
= ignore if you don't need to save it.
