Have you received any update on the PMR status? Thanks.

Jeff,

It turned out to be a sysval configuration that was preventing our normal/production console (3179) from being taken over by a remote console (3477). We keep QAUTOCFG off; it's just a security thing in our shop. Without it being set to 'on', console takeover from a different device type cannot occur (per KC). To test this, I flipped QAUTOCFG on and console takeover was allowed. However, I pointed out that IBM's own documentation in the Knowledge Center (for 7.1 anyway) recommends that QAUTOCFG should normally be off. I sent her a link and she indicated that the language would be changed. I'm a bit skeptical on that.

So, what we ended up doing is ensuring that the three different consoles that we use (1 production + its backup, and a remote) have the same device type configuration and keep QAUTOCFG=*OFF.

If you want the particulars on making the changes to the .HOD file so you can match up your console types, I should have that info at home - that's where the remote console is! Just reply on list.
