Glen,

What model P7 and P8?
I prefer to be current.
Power8 may require some newer MF hardware PTFs.
Make sure your LIC and firmware is current.

Subject: Do you freeze your PTFs when preparing to migrate?

Hi all,

We're using a 3rd party to migrate our Power7 to a Power8.
We received an email this morning that says:

Until the end of March can you please defer all PTF’s and cumes until
after we migrate to Power8.

I normally check for HIPER and other PTFs every Friday. It seems strange
to me to have a freeze period for the next 7 weeks. If it was me, I'd want
to make sure I had the latest fixes.

Two questions:
1. Is there an IBM recommended practice on this?
2. What strategy are you using?

Yours truly,
