I have not used this brand http://www.controlbyweb.com/ but the docs for
the little 4 port are great. It can use a web-call to the device from a
simple native program. It is inexpensive and does not require ANY
programming at all.

This one is only $134.

"rward" wrote some methods to talk from a CL to a switch like this.

Here area few options:
Scott Klement has provided an open source utility in ILE RPG that allows
you to do an HTTP post. Check out http://www.scottklement.com/httpapi/
You may also want to take a look at Brad Stone's GETURI utility. This is
not free but it is relatively inexpensive.

If you have the PASE environment installed on your box then you could
download the open source Curl binary and use it. Alan Seiden wrote an
informative article on how to install and use:
http://www.mcpressonline.com/tips-techniques/web-languages/techtip-talk-to-the-internet-with-curl.html

Lasly, if you have PHP installed on your box
<http://www.zend.com/en/products/server/downloads-ibmi> you could use the
PHP cli to invoke a php program that uses Curl functions
<http://php.net/manual/en/book.curl.php>.

I do like Buck's suggestion for an Arduino or raspberry pi. That sounds
like a fun project but a bit more work.
