Rob,

It's not COMMON that approves your requirement, it is IBM that said they weren't going to unbundle DB2 Partitioning from the LPP.

Rob,

That sticks. Interesting, I don't see your requirement here:
http://requirements.common.org/powerbase/fetch/

I'm curious, did your requirement mention anything about the lake of local partitioning prevents me from moving to DDL when I'm using an existing app designed with multi-member PF's?

To bad that COMMON apparently doesn't allow you to vote on requests like RDi does.
Maybe all just add my own.

regarding COMMON request (#367) to unbundle local partitioning from

Summary: Ain't going to happen.

Details:
Below is IBM's response to your requirement. IBM has rejected it.

If unbundling equates to allowing local partitioning to be used
without having to purchase DB2 Multisystem, we are not going to
unbundle it. DB2 Multisystem has unique value<truncated> We have
recently come up with a way for clients to evaluate DB2 Multisystem
for up to 70 days without having to formally purchase it. Rob would
have already heard about this option, which goes through our Lab Based
Services team.

Right on brother! I've asked that they unbundle partitioning from DB2
Multisystem. I think I've submitted both a DCR and a COMMON request
(#367). Well, I just added the COMMON one, and it told me #367, but I
don't see it upon review.

How does one say "Amen!" to a COMMON request? I'd like to add mine to
Larry's #361.

Working with our BP to configure a new POWER8 box...

Just a small S814 (8286-41A), P05 tier, using 1 core for IBM i

One addition I'd asked for was DB2 Multisystem (5770-ss1 option 27).
Simply because I'd like to be able to have locally partitioned tables;
particularly for historical data.

$25,000

Are you kidding me IBM? One LICPGM cost more than the rest of the OS?

That's just nuts.

Mainly just venting, as I don't expect this post do solve anything.
