Anything pre-Power8 runs only big endian linux. All Power machines run Aix
and Linux but only licensed machines run IBM i. To install linux on a
power5 520 you need to have 512-byte x sector disks and not the 522 ones
(you can change the disk in the carrier, just get generic SCSI disks and
linux will see them fine).
You can install OpenSuse or any ppc64 linux distro.
Not having a video card will limit you to the serial console but it can be
done.

If used with HMC, then direct linux LPAR is no big issue (if you have
512b disks). If not, you need an IBM i host LPAR for the linux clients
or swap the disks. 10 arms? So external disk system like 0595 attached?
