Aaron,

Paper Evals ARE retired. The 2015 Fall Conference & Expo was the first conference with all electronic evals. Evals could be entered on your laptop, tablet and even your phone. Evals were also open for 1 week after the conference so you could do them in the evening or even return to the office and do them then.

One thing I REALLY liked about the last conference was the scheduling tool
COMMON put in place, sched.org. It allowed me to see what other people
were interested in and sometimes that would make me think "hmmm... if that
person is interested in that topic then maybe I should consider it". Also,
it was easy to use.

Also, it's not 1985 anymore so paper evaluation forms need to be retired.
I can type much faster than I can write. I rarely do evaluations for this
reason (shame on me, but it's true). I can't imagine I am the only one.
Not only that but doing something electronically could allow for
collaboration/networking on things brought up in the session (huge value to
attendees, IMO). Heck, we could put together a Node.js WebSocket app to do
real-time collab - THAT would be fun.

And when we did get such feedback, it usually listed the "known" speakers,

had written but never spoken.

COMMON does that each and every time at every event with the evaluation
forms.

Almost no one fills them out and it's extremely rare that a suggestion is
actually put in.

So, what would you like to see?

What I'd like to see COMMON or other groups do is ask the people
coming who they want to hear from and/or about what topics.

Larry,

Yeah, like I said... it's one of the cool things about COMMON is
that
it's
not just for "professional" or "big name" speakers... anyone can
submit a session and have a chance to have it selected.

I know I'd love to see more new people presenting! Part of that is
selfish (less work that I have to do, haha) but also what makes us
strong is our community, helping each other, etc.

Thanks Scott!

I know there many here on the list who have great knowledge to
share with others in the community. This is indeed a great
opportunity. I know some people who do the selection process for
COMMON and they are always willing to consider new material and new
speakers!

Why not give it a go!
