If you install iSeriesPython and the XlsxWriter package for python, you get
control over a lot beyond what a .csv dump provides, like cell formatting,
formulas, tables, charts. Nice pdf provided on the XlsxWriter site
documenting its features.
John provides setup instructions on his blog at
http://iseriespython.blogspot.ca/ that worked well for me to set up a proof
of concept for our programming group last week. Biggest hurdle was wroking
out how to build SQL command strings with embedded quotes ( python uses the
blackslash character to escape for literals)
