Hey Paul

Here's an official statement -

At R540 and beyond, the *RCLSTG ESTIMATE(*YES)* option can be run to assist with determining how long the *RCLSTG* command takes to complete. The estimate is calculated by using statistics collected during previous *RCLSTG* operations and the values specified for the other *RCLSTG* parameters.

This comes from a document at http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=nas8N1010683

That document has a lot of information that contributes to the "it depends" scenario.

I have to ask, why should IBM reveal anything in detail about this? There are still proprietary things. Heh!

Here's one for the books. At one of my clients, the manager (the former IBM

amount of time it will take to do a full RCLSTG.

He didn't appreciate that IBM would say, "It depends". :-)

Anybody got a clue? Anybody know which group in Rochester would be able to
answer this?

I'm not going to add to the long list of laughs IBM has had at this guy's
expense. Wait, maybe I should.
