Unfortunate that the "by example" thing is not there - but it's not at all worthless for many things of interest - both historical and current - IBM architecture manuals have not change in 20 years, and this is one of the only places to find those kind of things. There are manuals in usable form back at least to V3R2, which can be of interest, methinks.

BTW, had to select more of your message due to stuff getting dropped after the double-hyphen - context gets lost many times, but can be recovered.
