Rob,

Unfortunately I am not very knowledgeable about BRMS but, remembering my
mainframe days, "Tiered storage" according to usage allowed you to
automatically send and restore objects according to its last use. So, say I
defined a 30 day limit for a source file. At the 30 day mark the file was
backed up in a tape cartridge and "deleted" from the main system, although
all its references would remain in the mainframe. If I needed it after that
date, the system automatically would bring it back.

I suppose that, for example, BRMS could move objects between an expensive
storage device (SSDs?) and a cheaper one (DASD), as needed.

Just a WAG.

Regards,

Luis
