So, since I'm licensed for 9 IBM i, two of which are "Application Server"
entitlements and I have the following breakdowns:
GDWEB - 0.5
GDIHQ - 4.75
GDISYS - 1.25
MAIL1 - 2
RACK1HST - 0.5
For a subtotal of 9. All the other lpars are either aix or vios so they
are not part of this equation.
MAIL1 is all Domino. So I just say that's where my two current
"Application Server" entitlements are.
I need some more CPU on RACK1HST. And all that does is host guest lpars
(IBM i and AIX) I could morally say that is pretty much a non DB2 load and
purchase just the application server entitlements for it? Maybe move it's
current 0.5 to some DB2 partition (GDIHQ or GDISYS)?
And if I still need some more CPU otherwhere I could snag the DB2 away
from GDWEB and get Application Server for it? All it runs is Domino and
GoAnywhere (ftp, sftp, ...)

For the cost of 1 CPU of DB2 entitlement I can buy 3 CPU's of Application
Server entitlement.

For a shop doing a lot of Application Server stuff (WAS, Domino, PHP,
hosting, etc) This price break may be enough to go from 814's to 824's
for the same amount? We have one 824 and two 814's.
