It's been 8 years since we set our up I believe. Don't remember the

we have the same setup as you.

So you are mixing the 'just connect two LPARs' bits with the 'Access
external networks' bits here. Your adapter on the HOST partition has
'Access external network' flag set on so it's in promiscuous mode. For

ONLY connecting two LPARs together on a virtual network we want that
to be 'False'.

Makes sense.

endtcpifc '10.1.10.1'
HMC, dynamically delete slot 2, OK
wrkhdwrsc *cmn; cmn13 not detected
HMC, dynamically created

Adapter ID: 2
Virtual switch: ETHERNET0
Port Virtual Ethernet (VLAN ID): 1
Required: False
IEEE 802.1q compatible: False
Additional VLAN IDs:
Access external network: False

wrkhdwrsc *cmn; cmn13 Operational
U8286.41A.21EF0DV-V1-C2-T1 - seems right strtcpifc '10.1.10.1'
ping '10.1.10.2' - no response from host.

Same issue if end/start interface on guest and ping back to host.

Also for communication between these two LPARS there need no routes
whatever as they are in the same IP network (10.1.10.0) so just for
clarity I would remove those.

Ended interfaces on both sides, removed routes, started interfaces on
both sides, ping gets no response.
