So 5.555% of temp addresses used leaves you tens (maybe hundreds) of billions of them left. It used to be that each IPL rolled you to a new set of temp addresses, thus lowering the percentage to 0.00somthing. IIRC there are 'only' 32768 sets of temporary addresses so if you IPLed a LOT you could in theory run out and your system would need to be scratch reloaded.

When IBM i moved to RISC the number of addresses in each space went WaaaaaY up so the percentage used dropped commensurately. Then in V5R3 IBM changed the algorithm so that only when you surpass 85% of temp addresses used will you get a new set assigned during an IPL. You will then see 0.00?? % after that IPL.

There is a way (that I cannot recall) to lower the 85% threshold but suffice to say: "You are in no danger here." :-)

What are normal or acceptable % for temp addresses?
What is needed to lower this %?
My last IPL had no impact.
