Yeah, we do have XW1 from a while ago. According to Bob at IBM, once I've accepted the license agreement from a copy from ESS, I just replace everything and am fine - what got me rattled was that the license files in the update said they are for the evaluation - and I actually believed them!!

I'm pretty sure the licensing is thru the 57xxXW1 product

on your Power 8 you should be running V7.1 or V7.2 so you should have 5770XW1 licensed

Thx, Justin

This is encouraging - we have teh 1.1.3 copy from the media that came
with our POWER 8 - from what you say, even though the update for 1.1.4
has an evaluation license, it will still use the other one.

Can you do me a favor? Does anything show up in WRKLICINF for this
product? I was shown it and saw nothing - only the 5733XW1 with nothing
that I saw relating to 5733XJ1.

So I'm curious about where the license stuff IS stored.

I keep both an ESS copy and the latest copy on my NetServer. I start
the ESS copy one time on a new PC and that takes care of the
licensing. After that, just point them to use the latest copy.

I save the workstation file (.HOD) on the user's PC, then do a
right-click "Open with" and point to the correct acslaunch-win-32.exe.
I use that EXE for 64-bit Windows since I never got the other to work.

Of course, this is for PC. Mac is an entirely different can of worms.
