I just got a note 5 minutes ago from Her Royal Highness Queen of Keys at IBM on another issue. She indicated that the O/S keys go back to V3 days and IBM i (then OS/400) keys started at V4 and processor license keys for core quantity at V5R1.

Sans Keys you get to play for 70 days.
