Well you can do a CHKOPTVOL VOL(*ALL) OUTPUT(*PRINT) DEV(OPTVRT01)

This dumps a short report that you could then copy and use. It does report the volume name there.

Also have you tried:

DUPOPT FROMVOL(*MOUNTED)
       TOVOL(*MOUNTED)
       FROMDEV(OPT01)
       TODEV(OPT02)

Folks:

Does anyone know if there is an API to retrieve the volume name of an
optical volume using the optical device name?

Alternatively, does anyone know if there is a way to copy contents of a
optical device (CD/DVD) using the device name instead of the volume id?

Thanks!

david
