See Rob's earlier post on how to set an environment setting to not have
servers appear.

Jim,
IIRC, if the windows servers are located in the same subnet they appear
under QNTC automagically...

You might want to check /QNTC/<ServerName> for the links, I think that's
where they are stored.

If I remember correctly QNTC links do not survive an IPL and need to be
re-established so I would also check the start up program for any processing
there.

Jim,

QNTC is IBM's Client-side interface to windows networking. The objects
you see under /QNTC are not data stored on your system, but rather are other
computers that are found on your network.

You don't want to delete these... the way you'd remove them is by
taking those computers off of the network...

Can you explain what sort of problems these are causing that makes you want
to get rid of them?

The "File Shares" in ops nav are part of "NetServer" and are not related to
QNTC.

On a large system we have a /QNTC with many hundreds of links.
At one point, a decade ago, someone fooled around with using /QNTC to
transfer data with Win servers and desktops. That was halted long ago,
but all these links exist.
Operations would like to delete them all.
I will admit to not truly understanding /QNTC and after considerable
reading, I can't say I understand it any more.

In OPS Nav, under File Shares - there are none for /QNTC (but there are
a few for / (ROOT) and we are working towards changing that..

We do have several products that interface with both i and Win
servers, but we believe this is not via QNTC - we asked and they
responded with ... what is QNTC? (one product still uses QDLS..)

So can I verify if any links are in use? in Ops Nav, right click a
link, and properties seems to do something that causes it to show as
active or in use (it has a last use of date time when I asked to show
properties...

If I remove a link in QNTC (either OPS Nav or WRKLNK) I assume I'm
only removing a "definition" to that Win PC or server... is that a
true statement?

Assuming no one sets up each one of these links, how do they
automatically get created?
