This is how it has always been for NetServer - it is its own SMB implementation.

There is, in 7.2, supposed to be an option to use Samba like Netserver but faster, some functionality may be less - and I'm having the worst time finding ANY information in KnowledgeCenter or whatever - the NetCenter page talks about a Linux Samba client.

I'm probably deeply misunderstanding something - maybe this is where the IBM i is the server - so maybe it is not going the other way, as QNTC does - i would really like THAT.

OK, some day I'll have some answers!

Samba is an implementation of SMB - Server Message Block - which is the underlying Windows file sharing mechanism. It's also used by NetServer.
