I sugest you to change your plans, and begin the switch to IPv6 ASAP.
Not doing so will "reinforce" the image of the AS/400 and sucesors as
obsolete.

I recently discovered that some apps are attempt to use IPv6.
We are strictly IPv4, no plans to switch to IPv6.

It takes an IPL to disable IPv6.
Options
1) CHGCMDDFT CMD(QSYS/STRTCP) NEWDFT('STRIP6(*NO)')

Normally, I don't change the QSYS command defaults, but I make a copy of the command, library SYSCHG.
This library is first in the QSYSLIBL.

However, when I tested this, IPv6 still started following an IPL.
Turns out IBM has QSYS hardcoded for the STRTCP command, not changeable.
One issue here is this can get lost on an OS upgrade, which I believe did happen.
I think I had IPv6 disabled back when I was on V6R1, got re-enabled on the V7R1OS upgrade.

2) Other option is to CHGIPLA, set Start TCP/IP to *NO, and add STRTCP to QSTRUP pointing SYSCHG/STRTCP.

3) Or CHGIPLA, set Start TCP/IP to *NO, prompting and coding the QYSS/ STRTCP STRSVR(*YES) STRIFC(*YES) STRPTPPRF(*YES) STRIP6(*NO)

What are others doing with IPv6, if disabling, which option?

Thank You
