Nominations for the 2015 COMMON/IBM Power Systems Innovation Awards are now open. The Innovation Awards recognize outstanding innovation in the application of advanced business computing technology to improve efficiency, enhance customer service, or promote business excellence.
Award winners exhibit excellence in utilizing new technologies to create significant business value by delivering new solutions faster, improving the quality and capability of existing solutions, or improving the economics around solution implementation. New technologies that will be considered for the award cover a wide variety of possibilities, including but not limited to:
* Open Source
* Application Modernization, including mobile solutions
* Database
* Virtualization and Systems Management
* Education and Community Support
* and Business Process Innovation.

We will accept nominations until March 2, 2015. The winner will be informed in late March and announced at the COMMON 2015 Annual Meeting and Exposition in Anaheim.
A committee of COMMON representatives will select the award recipients. The benefits of being an Innovation Awards selectee are significant. Winners will receive an engraved Tiffany crystal award, a complimentary one-year membership to COMMON, one complimentary registration to COMMON's 2015 Annual Meeting and Exposition, one complimentary registration to the COMMON IT Executive Conference, and feature articles in COMMON.CONNECT and IBM publications.

What is the COMMON/IBM Power Systems Innovation Award?
Several years ago, COMMON and IBM introduced Innovation Awards to recognize, showcase, and share clients' best practices for Power Systems solutions.
Award winners exhibit excellence in utilizing new technologies to create significant business value by delivering new solutions faster, improving the quality and capability of existing solutions or improving the economics around solution implementation. New technologies deployed cover a wide variety such as Open Source; Application Modernization, including mobile solutions; Database; Virtualization and Systems Management; Education andCommunity Support; and Business Process Innovation.
Who is eligible for the COMMON/IBM Power Systems Innovation Award?
IBM clients who use Power Systems servers (including IBM i, AIX and Linux) are eligible for these awards. IBM Business Partners are not eligible for these awards, but can nominate their clients with the clients' permission.
A judging committee will be assigned and will include COMMON Board Members and IBM members. The judges will rank and score each nomination on the following criteria:
* Demonstrate business innovation
* Supports outstanding achievement
* Highlights business value to the company and its end users
* Is considered a best practice in the industry
* Stands out from the other nominations
What will award winners receive?
In addition to the award, the winner will be eligible for the following benefits:
* COMMON Membership for one year
* One complimentary registration to the COMMON Annual Meeting and Exposition
