Got it. We are getting closer.

Is there a way to create a multiple session file and have all sessions open
in a tabbed window? Mine seem to open as new windows (1 session per
windows), not as tabs.

Alt-tab takes between open windows. ctrl-tab works in a tabbed window.

Am I correct in assuming that

tabbed sessions that share a common presentation space

means that when I have multiple sessions open, I can toggle between
them with the keyboard (like Alt-Tab in Windows)? If so, how do I do
it...or is it how I am opening them that is preventing me from doing this?
