I unloaded a few LTO-1 drives on someone on this list quite some time ago.
They had a SCSI hookup. Doing an IOP reset was common enough that I had
the instructions typed up and taped to the drive.

Google is telling me that 3580-003 is LTO-3.

Careful pulling those cables to check the pins!!!!
I had a LTO-3 SCSI drive that we used to share the hard way. Unpulling
the cable and reattaching it. Since we only used it once a quarter it was
no big deal. However a pin got bent just about every time. Trust me, IBM
figured out pretty quick what was going on. I ended up putting the full
court press on the boss for another drive and told him I wasn't moving
that cable again.
I had so much trouble with those I was so grateful when we finally got rid
of the cards, cables and drives and replaced them all with fiber cards,
fiber cables, SAN Switch and fiber drives. It was getting to the point
that we couldn't get through a quarterly backup without IBM on site
replacing at least one drive. Which, of course, could only be found in a
mountain side monastery in Outer Mongolia.
