Yes, we have secured / parameterised by folder.
Yes, there are schedules.

As I indicated, don't have your programmers create Crystal Reports. Have
them create the stored procedures in RPG and. some report writer just calls
the procedure and gets back the result.

Our managers and admins aren't technically-minded. They generally
expect to have the technical work done by the IT staff. It takes me
longer to lay out a Crystal report than it does to make an RPG spooled
file over the exact same data.

For me, the bulk of the time I expend in Crystal isn't choosing a
datasource. It's mostly in the layout. We've used both views and
stored procs as Crystal data sources. SPs tend to get the nod because
we can adopt authority :-) but views can be very fast to make,
especially when mocking up the first few passes of the Crystal report.
