I don't have an HMC, most of my clients have no lpars it's just a box running IBMi. It's still supported on v7r2, the only thing that's significantly changed is you can't use the twinax operations console that's not supported. The window I'm calling is Actions, Management, System Configurations and Locate Console. The IBM i Operations Console equivalent is Connection, Discover.
After waiting 10-15 minutes it eventually displayed after an IPL but it instantly appears in Operations Console which is just mind boggling.

Ok, I've not used Operations Console since we've had a Power 4.
Since then I've use a little Lan Console, but mostly HMC's.
Perhaps there is some issue with this because Operations Console is so very old and I don't believe is supported on currently supported versions of the operating system.
Which of the options on the "IBM i Access Client Solutions" window are you calling Operations Console? "5250 Console"? "Virtual Control Panel"?
