IBM i, being a real operating system, will automatically change the system
value QUTCOFFSET during the time change. Ours will go from -4:00 to
-5:00.
Windows, being an unmitigated piece of crap, has their own concept of the
system value QUTCOFFSET. However, the rat b'tards don't change it during
the time change. They have you compare two different areas. So our
Windows UTC offset always stays -5:00 but you also have to check something
that says "Oh, you're in an area that does time change so you need to
...". Which makes it real tough for so called multiplatform WAS based
applications to stay in sync. Like IBM Sametime... Consultants learn to
install during the right time of the year.
