Just my two cents here, but FC tape communications use reset
commands that could interfere with FC disk communications...or
so I was told.

Not only do the tape commands potentially impact the disk
communications. Quite frequently in order to continue to use
the tape device, you must do an IOP reset or IPL of the adapter.
With dual port adapters, this means both ports get reset in the
process. This means you temporarily lose contact with the disk
in addition to the tape. Not a problem if there are 2 pathes to
each LUN in the storage, but if somehow a LUN only has a single
path which is on the adapter IPLed, your LPAR will hang until
the IPL of the adapter is complete.
