Yes I'm on 7.1 and the current java is 5761-JV1 (on your link it shows the product as 5761-JV1 as well) and when displayed using display installed programs it appears as *INSTALLED where the 6.1 versions are listed as *COMPATIBLE

Tommy,

Did that work? As Java 1.7 is only supported on V7R1 or later, I would assume the restore would have to be for V7R1M0.

See http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=nas8N1011999 For java version vs. IBMi release.

DOH...I finally got it. I had to restore for release V6R1M0 not V7R1M0
sigh it's time for more caffeine & Excedrin Migraine!!! (but it does
seem
that it should be V7R1 imo)

Thanks,

Did you read "media labels and their contents"? does it say that these
java options are on any B_Group disc? I know that some new flavors of
Java came out for V5R4 long after V5R4 came out and never made it to one
of the B_Group discs and had to be downloaded from ESS separately. None
of the B_Group flavors of java that come with V5R4 will run on 7.2

Is Java 1.7 only available via RSTLICPGM or are there PTFs that will do
the install?

Is it possible to install just the 1.7 (5761JV1 option 14 & 15)? If so
then can someone give me a brief "how-to" I'm googling my heart out and
can't for the life of me figure this out. I downloaded the B_GROUP_05 &
the .iso images for 1.7 and did the RSTLICPGM (as suggested by IBM's
knowledge center), etc but the options 14 & 15 aren't there. I tried
just

doing a RSTLICPGM or option 14 & then 15 to no avail.

Thanks,
