That's going to be easier said than done Brad but I'll see what I can do. Problem is it is all integrated with our registration system.

As I noted to Rob - the mail causing issues has a PDF attachment - I have a test gmail of my own that I'll see if I can send to and then send to you if that still works.

Jon,

I have both a gmail account and a business hosted gmail account. Try
sending them to me and let me know when and I will let you know if I get
them.

they're both pretty easy address:

bvstone at gmail dot com

and

bvstone at bvstools dot com

Since simple emails get through Rob I don't see how it could be.

If I send an email that says "Test" with a simple one line content it is
received OK. It is only when it is the more complex conference registration
document that is sent that there is an issue.

Hi Brad,

We're using the php mail() API and it has no problems sending basic email
to gmail or indeed the "problem" email account which is a google hosted
private domain.

As I noted before: "I have succeeded in sending simple emails from the
IBM
i to those same accounts - so it appears to be content related but ..."

It is not _all_ email that disappears into the ether - just some.

As to the balance of your question re TLS and SSL I cannot answer that as
we use the mail server at idevcloud and it is supposed to be whitelisted
etc. with google.

The client has now added our IP to his companies whitelist as well so
we'll see if that does anything.

It is just so frustrating that they don't bounce the damn mail or
anything
so you are always flying blind in trying to determine what went wrong.

Jon,

what are you using to send the email? What command? And is it set up
properly for both TLS or SSL and authentication? These are required.

Google use to let it go by, but now I've noticed they don't anymore if
it's
not authenticated.

Thanks for the links Louis - but the client in question is receiving
mail
from others, and even simple mail from us so I don't think it is a
service
failure issue.

Jon,

Google's status page reports everything ok:

On the other hand, the "downdetector" website seems to imply that
there
are
some users out there with problems:

I'm having trouble sending emails not just to gmail accounts but also

Nothing is showing up in the spam filters and no bounce messages.

I have succeeded in sending simple emails from the IBM i to those

Anyone have any experience of similar problems with google hosted
mail?
