If you do it manually, I'd suggest every other week. That way you won't
have issues.

With BRMS and the library set up to autoclean, the job simply gets
interrupted, the drive cleans itself, then remounts the save tape and
continues on like before.

We are configured for Auto Clean using LTO 5.
Each drive gets cleaned about once a month, average usage 4 to 5 hours /
day.
So about every 150 hours as an estimate.

The interval between cleanings depends on the dust in your environment and
factors such as a drywall crew working in the room - in which case you may
need an air compressor instead of a cleaning cartridge.

So - nightly unattended save is crashed. Verified previous night save
had no "clean tape warnings".

How often should a LTO drive be cleaned? (each night is approx 4 hrs
of tape activity).
I seem to recall in past it was based on #hours in use (like 10)?
