I think an easy way to to avoid poor performance pertaining to DNS and
related network issues is to simply use the server's LAN IP address in the
browser's address bar - that's what I always do.

I recently added RAM to our development box, which is a 1-core Power 5
server. We had 1 GB. I installed an additional pair of 4 GB DIMMs.
Performance of Navigator increased dramatically.
