I suppose it's safe to say that I am the IT team. Obviously that doesn't
count for much. .-)

This is my personal PC. I work from home, except on a few occasions (Save
21 and such).

What I planned to do was not replace this PC, but just upgrade it to Win7 in
place and add some more memory. Actually thinking of having a local firm do
the elements of the upgrade. I was just hoping that, after the Win7
upgrade, all of my connections would be intact. I suppose it would be
possible to re-create all of them. I do have one VPN connection to a client
that I access once a week.

One of the reasons that I wanted to upgrade in-place, as it were, is to save
myself the trouble of re-installing the ton of other software, some of which
is not transferable to a new machine (license issues - I'm a stickler for
those things), others would just be a downer because of the work (I'm also
extremely lazy, as you know, Jim).
