SQL - Encrypt fields -- MIDRANGE-L

I have got the INSERT to work...

insert into XXXXXX values(
'REDROCKS', 'gmagnuson', ENCRYPT_AES('brickbat15','testenc'),'test1','test2')

1 rows inserted...

select decrypt_char(ppswd,'testenc') from XXXXXX

column or global variable testenc not found

how do I format my select to get my data back???????????
