Re: RTVDIRINF and what it revealed

fixed

A RTVDIRINF/PRTDIRINF from 3/15 shows the following

Total allocated size of directory /instancecache/resources is 87,957,504
Total allocated size of directory /instancecache/relationships is 88,981,504

I added the commas for readability.

I do not have this directory on our main ERP lpar. This lpar has been

But I did check an lpar that was created under 7.1. It runs just Domino.
It has this directory. And each of those subdirectories has about 11,000
VERY SMALL entries. But the whole directory size is only about 80+MB.
I suspect an error with your SQL.
Try drilling into it with iNav or EDTF '/instancecache/resources'

WRKLNK '/home/ROB/instancecache/*'
Ok, so I DO have this directory on my older lpars also. Again, a bunch of
very small files.

11,000 files * 8k/file / 1000M/K = 88MB

I ran the RTVDIRINF command and managed to bang together some SQL that
gives me a list of every directory, the size of everything in that
directory, the number of stream files in the directory and the number of
directories in the directory. Now I can sort this multiple ways to find
out how the IFS is being used. (It kind of "growed".)

A couple of things jumped out:

Directory /instancecache/relationships has 10,887 stream files.
Directory /instancecache/resources has 10,727 stream files.

They take about 85 mb each, and seem to be all .XML files. They appear
to be IBM created, having a line like this at the beginning:

ResourceInstance
xmlns="
http://www.ibm.com/xmlns/prod/SystemsManagement/v2.0/ResourceCollection";
schemaVersion="2.0" modelVersion="6.3.0"

Does anyone else have files like this? What have you done about them?
If anything...

Thanks, Sam
